We woke up on Friday, Dec 16, at 3:00
a.m., so that we would have time to get to the train that would take
us to the other train that would take us to the third train that
would take us to the bus that would take us to the airport that would
take us to Dublin airport shuttle bus service that would take us to
our hostel (finally!).
| So happy at the Train Station at 4:00 a.m. |
We arrived exhausted and starving.
After we unpacked our things, we asked the hostel clerk for a pub or
restaurant recommendation, and she pointed us towards O'Sheas.
Delicious.
Apparently, Ireland also has a
Christmas Market, but it is very different than a German one. It's
more like what you would imagine from a Victorian-period movie,
except that the people are selling light-up yo-yo's and cute animal-face
beanies instead of fish and flowers.
Later, we went back and asked her for a
more pub-like recommendation, and she sent us to The Celt...which
looks suspiciously similar to the Banshee, in Chico. However, this
pub was by far our favorite part of Dublin. The bartenders were
friendly, the Smithwick's was delicious, and the environment was
everything you would imagine an Irish Pub to be.
Exhausted from travel and from
analyzing the Irish accent/dialect, we went back to the hostel to
rest for the next day.
