After saying goodbye to May, we departed from Zürich by train. The trip was about 1 ½ hours long, and we spent the time chatting with our train-mate, Doris from Biel. We arrived in Konstanz around 12, and a taxi brought us to our new home.
Tim talked to the Hausmeister and got the keys to our apartment on the 7th floor (8th floor in America) of a high-rise dorm building. When we opened the door, we were greeted by a toxic wave of cigarette smoke and a floor hidden by a layer of black hair, dirt, and cigarette ash. It wasn't all bad, though. Through the dirt-clouded windows, we could sense that there was a spectacular view. So we cleaned. And cleaned. And cleaned. And then we arranged furniture, which made the floor dirty again. So we cleaned some more.
Later, we walked into the city to acquire some home goods, but—with the exception of plug converters—found nothing. Well, nothing for our house, that is. We found a Biergarten, and stopped for drinks. We sat right in the seating area, but, somehow, we ended up in a different cafe's chairs, and a lady told us to order or leave. So we left, and eventually made our way home. Our dinner of bread, cheese, and salami was eaten by biting directly off the loaf and meat, because we had no kitchen utensils. After dinner, we cleaned some more.
