When you register with the city of Konstanz, they give you a city coupon book with discounts to some of the local attractions. Today, Tim and I took our little coupon books down to Sea Life Konstanz and got 25% of the entrance fee.
Well. I don't want to say that once you've seen the Monterey Bay Aquarium, nothing is quite as impressive....but it's true. However, we did enjoy ourselves. They had a nice slab of glacier ice that we were allowed to touch on the way in. The first part of the Sea Life experience was centered around local water life in the Rhein and in Lake Konstanz, and then later there were some octopus, sea-horse, shark, ray, and penguin exhibits. There was also a wild life/wild water museum where we learned that the lake actually feeds the Rhein River, and not the other way around. And then we pet a fake wild Boar.

Afterwards, we walked by the famous rotating statue that apparently guards the river mouth. And then we went swimming in the beautiful free beach area. We also learned that the water is the warmest in August at a nice 20 degrees C (68 F), so we decided that we will be taking advantage of that fact. Also, despite some heavy showers early this morning, it was really hot today...about 90 degrees F, so why wouldn't you want to swim if you've been walking around in that all day.
