On a tip from our very friendly housing manager, we went to follow up on a potential job at a guest house on the resort-y, west side of town. Few buses run there, and we decided to walk on a path through the park to get to our destination.
We discovered, however, that the park is a forest, complete with dense trees, mosquitoes, and muddy paths that don't align with the pictured map trails. There were also signs about thieves, which of course led me to imagine that were highway-men-esque bands of bad guys waiting to jump out and rob us. This did not end up being the case.

Eventually, the roads of the city came back into view. We were on the other side of the forest, but not the correct other side, so we walked along the roads to get to the guest house. When we arrived, the owner was very nice, told us to come by in September when it is the busy season, and wanted to know if we were from Russia.
Then we took a walk down the street and ended up in a “free bathing center,” a.k.a. free public beach. It was gorgeous, and we are going back today with our swimming stuff.
